Our Hair Loss Treatment Service

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation, our dermatologists will assess your specific symptoms and affected areas of skin. This allows them to determine the type of rosacea that you have and identify any possible triggers.

Treatment

We can then recommend the best course of treatment including any dietary or lifestyle changes that may have a positive effect on managing the symptoms.

Reassessment

If the initial treatment plan become ineffective, it will be reassessed and a new treatment plan will be recommended so that the most appropriate treatment is always in place.

What is Hair loss?

Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is when you lose hair from part or all of your body, most commonly from the scalp. It can happen for many different reasons and vary in severity—ranging from a little thinning to complete baldness.

Hair loss is a common concern which millions of people worldwide worry about. Hair loss can often cause emotional distress and leave people with a desire for an effective solution to address the problem.

What causes hair loss?

It can be caused by a variety of factors such as genetic, hormonal, medical, nutritional, and environmental factors. Identifying the underlying cause is crucial for effective treatment.

Genetics

One of the most common causes of hair loss is genetics, hereditary hair loss or, androgenetic alopecia which involves the gradual thinning of the hair.

Hormonal Changes

Menopause can lead to hair thinning due to the drop in oestrogen levels as well as both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism (over active and underactive thyroids) can lead to hair loss.

Medical Conditions

The auto-immune condition, alopecia areata causes the immune system to attack hair follicles which results in patchy hair loss, lupus is also another autoimmune disease which can cause hair loss. Other medical conditions include psoriasis or scalp infections like ring worm.

Medications

Medications such as blood thinners like warfarin and heparin and some antidepressants can lead to hair loss, beta-blockers for heart conditions can also lead to hair thinning.

What hair loss treatments do we offer?

We have two specialists in Dr Andreea Anton and Dr Zee Hasan who can treat patients for hair loss using a variety of treatments such as:

Steroid injections are one of the most common treatments for hair loss and other conditions that cause hair loss, such as alopecia. With this treatment, a tiny needle is used to inject corticosteroids into the bare patches of skin.

These injections will be completed by our dermatologists every 4 to 6 weeks.

We also offer topical treatments for hair loss at our clinics. Our topical treatments include creams, ointments, and more and will be prescribed on a case by case basis at the discretion of your dermatologist.

If you’re experiencing hair loss, don’t hesitate to contact us and book a consultation with our dermatologists to discuss your treatment options.
