Dr Maria Bageta is a Paediatrician and Paediatric Dermatologist who works as a Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital where she reviews patients with complex paediatric dermatology conditions, leads a transition clinic for patients with ichthyosis and runs laser therapy lists for children with birthmarks under general and local anaesthesia.
Dr Bageta has a clinical interest in all skin conditions but specialises in eczema, haemangiomas (strawberry birthmarks), undiagnosed rashes, moles, birthmarks, and acne.
Dr Bageta has a passion for research and has worked as the lead research fellow in Mission EB, a cell therapy trial for children with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. She is involved in a large research portfolio in Dermatology at GOSH, has presented her work at many international meetings in Dermatology, acts as a peer reviewer and has published several articles as main author and co-author in peer reviewed journals.
She has been recognised as a Future Leader in Paediatric Dermatology by the European Society for Paediatric Dermatology (ESPD). She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) and an active member of Dermatology Societies such as ESPD, BAD, BSPAD and ISPD.

I met Cristina when we were 19-years-old. I have witnessed how hard she has worked to excel in every aspect of her life. Being next to her during her medical training, gave me an idea of how hard doctors work and the countless sacrifices they make to look after others. Nowadays, I see the huge amount of work she does for her patients outside the clinic, how much she cares about them and the importance of continuous study and research. For that reason, I have the highest admiration and respect for doctors.
