What is Mole Mapping?

The purpose of mole mapping is to identify any new moles as well as changes to existing moles on your body. The mole mapping process helps to identify these changes in the future by keeping a record of your moles such as where they are, their shape, size, and more.

Mapping your moles can be extremely beneficial in diagnosing skin cancers, such as melanoma, much faster than if the mapping had not taken place.

Should you get your moles mapped?

If you have been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer in the past or have lots of moles that are causing you concern, mole mapping can be extremely beneficial.

How does our mole mapping work?

At Skin inspection, we provide the highest quality mole mapping at our Harley Street Clinic, which is personally performed by a consultant dermatologist with special interest in skin cancer examination. We take dermoscopic images of ALL your moles.

First, we use the latest technology to take images of the whole skin surface from head to toe. The result is saved into a database, as a baseline for future surveillance. Then the patient will get a thorough dermoscopy examination of every mole, from head to toe.

We will then take digital dermoscopic images of some moles to identify potentially dangerous melanomas. The consultant dermatologist personally examines the patient and selects which moles need to have more detailed monitoring.

Please note that our fully body mole mapping service is only available at our Harley Street clinic, to book a consultation please contact us on 020 3575 1474 or book online using our online booking form.

Follow-Up Examinations

Following the initial consultation and mapping, patients are scheduled for a follow-up examination in three, six or 12 months to reassess the current moles with that of the stored images. At each follow-up visit, the consultant dermatologist compares the sequential dermoscopic images and examines the lesions for potential changes over time. If there are substantial changes, it can indicate skin cancer and mole removal would be recommended.

How much does our mole mapping service cost?

We also have a clear fee structure, which incorporates our “no surprises” policy when it comes to billing and includes a money-back guarantee if you feel our results are not satisfactory. Our mole mapping consultation prices are:

  • Initial consultation: £544
  • Follow-up appointments: £544
